Your First Visit to a Dispensary: Everything You Need to Know Before You Walk Through the Door
Maybe you've driven by a dispensary a dozen times. Maybe you've been curious but weren't sure what to expect. Maybe you've walked up to the front door before and decided, "Maybe another day." If that's you, you're not alone.
For a lot of people, visiting a dispensary for the first time can feel a little intimidating. There are new products, new terminology, and plenty of questions. The good news? It doesn't have to be that way.
At Do Be Kind, we believe buying cannabis should feel as comfortable as asking a trusted friend for a recommendation. Whether you're completely new to cannabis or you've been enjoying it for years, our goal is simple: make every person who walks through our doors feel welcome.
If you're looking for a friendly, approachableLa Crescent dispensary, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know before your visit.
Why Visit a Dispensary in La Crescent?
Nestled along the Mississippi River, La Crescent is quickly becoming a destination for adults looking to shop for legal cannabis in Southeast Minnesota.
Conveniently located just minutes from La Crosse, Wisconsin, Do Be Kind welcomes customers from throughout the region, including Winona, Hokah, Brownsville, Houston, Caledonia, Spring Grove, and beyond. Many of our guests even make the short drive across the river from Wisconsin to shop legally in Minnesota.
Whether you're stopping by while running errands, visiting family, or making a weekend trip, we're proud to be part of this growing community.
Is Do Be Kind Beginner Friendly?
Absolutely. In fact, that's exactly who we built Do Be Kind for. You don't need to know cannabis terminology. You don't need to know the difference between flower and concentrates. You don't even need to know what you're looking for.
Our budtenders love answering questions and helping people feel comfortable. We'll explain products in plain english, help you understand your options, and make recommendations based on your comfort level, not ours. There are no silly questions here.
What Should You Bring?
Visiting a dispensary is simple. All you'll need is:
A valid government-issued photo ID
To be at least 21 years old
Cash or a debit card for your purchase
Do Be Kind currently accepts cash and debit cards. Due to federal banking restrictions surrounding cannabis, we're unable to accept credit cards at this time. If you'd like to pay with cash but don't have any on hand, no worries! We have an ATM available on-site for your convenience.
That's it! If it's your first visit, you don't need to know exactly what you're looking for before you arrive. Come as you are, bring your questions, and we'll help with the rest.
What Happens When You Walk In?
If you've never been inside a dispensary before, here's what you can expect. First, we'll greet you and check your ID. From there, you're welcome to browse, ask questions, or chat with one of our budtenders.
Some customers know exactly what they want. Others spend twenty minutes asking questions. Both are perfectly okay. Our goal isn't to rush you through a transaction, it's to help you leave feeling confident about your purchase.
What Products Can You Find at Do Be Kind?
Every cannabis experience is different, which is why we carry a variety of products for different preferences and lifestyles. Depending on availability, you'll find products like:
Premium flower
Wellness products
Accessories
If you're unsure where to begin, we'll help you narrow down your options based on the experience you're looking for.
New to Cannabis? Here's Our Best Advice.
You'll probably hear one phrase more than any other: Start low. Go slow. Especially if you're trying cannabis for the first time.
Everyone responds to cannabis differently, and finding your ideal experience often starts with choosing a lower dose and giving your body time to respond before consuming more. Our team is always happy to explain potency, timing, and dosing so you can feel comfortable before you leave the store.
Visiting from Wisconsin?
One of the questions we hear most often is: "Can Wisconsin residents shop at a Minnesota dispensary?" Yes.
Under Minnesota's adult-use cannabis laws, adults 21 and older with a valid government-issued photo ID may legally purchase cannabis from a licensed Minnesota dispensary, regardless of which state they live in. Minnesota law allows adult-use cannabis sales through licensed retailers.
However, it's important to remember that transporting cannabis across state lines, including back into Wisconsin, is illegal under federal law, even if your purchase was completely legal in Minnesota. We always encourage our guests to understand and follow the laws that apply to them.
Why So Many People Choose Do Be Kind
There are other dispensaries. We know that. But we also believe the experience matters just as much as the products on the shelf.
At Do Be Kind, we're building something that feels a little different. We're your friendly neighborhood dispensary. The place where questions are encouraged. Where first-time shoppers feel just as welcome as longtime cannabis enthusiasts. Where kindness isn't just part of our name, it's how we do business.
Whether you're stopping in from across town or crossing the river from Wisconsin, we want you to leave feeling informed, comfortable, and excited to come back.
